IHRA changes Summit TOC rules
http://www.ihra.com/News/2012/12/27/2/
Summary: They've removed the 'win-once-and-you're-in' method. You must now finish in the Top Three in a division to qualify for the Championship runoff. |
Re: IHRA changes Summit TOC rules
3 x 6 Divisions = 18, minus any no-shows... looks like a FOUR round race for $10,000. Those top 3 all get points money now, and since there are no standalone nationals, you can run the entire season in 5 weekends. I've already got my schedule laid out, and can chase championships in multiple series in the coming year.

Might be time to take a look at the IHRA again!

Re: IHRA changes Summit TOC rules
I see Div. 3 has only 3 scheduled events.
Plus I would have the option of traveling to 2 out of Div. wildcard races. 5 races to "git-er-done" |

4 double-header weekends gives you your max of 8 possible races, plus the TOC weekend = 5 weekends to win the World. |
Re: IHRA changes Summit TOC rules
I never liked the win one race and get in deal although I did benefit from it.
Good move IHRA Chip |
Re: IHRA changes Summit TOC rules
Every year the IHRA changes and tweaks the rules/layout to try and address the concerns/complaints of racers and maybe increase car counts. Unfortunetly, the racers who come up with complaints/excuses will not attend anyway.
Regardless of any and all changes the best racers find a way to win. I plan on supporting the races as much as possible (superrod, stock, superstock, quickrod) for 2013. Good luck and Happy New year! Rich SS/DM 161 |
