Current draw
We run a 1994 Camaro in C/S and are looking at the Lithium battery set up. What would the electric current draw be on a car like ours? It's currently a single battery 16V system.
Aeromotive A1000 pump, MSD 7AL3, Holley EFI, single fan, electric water pump and mini starter. Thanks |
Re: Current draw
Cam, I can tell you that we checked our single 16" electric fan after blowing fuses initially. The actual running draw was 22 amps, but required a 30 amp fuse to not blow turning on the fan. No idea on the EFI, but looks to me like you could easily draw 60 amps going down the track with everything you've mentioned.
Just my 2 cents.... Grant Eldridge E/SA 6650 |
Re: Current draw
Do you have 100 amp or bigger alternator, with correspondingly big cables? I assume you leave it working during the run. Many on another forum say the car is more consistent, etc. with the alternator running.

Re: Current draw
I had the alternator on a test bench last spring and it produced well over 16 volts but the tech said he couldn't measure the amps because of the high voltage. Cable wise, it's #2 welding cable from the alternator back to the battery and up to thefues panel.
