Radial wobble

Anybody have any ideas on getting rid of this unwanted (scary) problem on a super stocker 110 inch wheelbase. Had hoosier '|s on it for 15 passes & i could not take it anymore, terrible wobble half track on, and not bad every pass , but real bad others. Any ideas guys would be much appreciated,,,, p.s car is 66 chevy two,,,,,,,,thanks in advance,,,,,,merrill:(:(

I tried at Indy one year to put very tall front tires with low air pressure on my car and it was horrible , wobble wise . Never had a problem at all before. I have heard wider rims help with radials as well .

I had it real bad in Reynolds with new radials, adjusted front shocks (tight) fixed my problem.

Re: Radial wobble

Do you have a rear anti-sway bar? If not, add one. Dyno

Anti roll, good shocks, shock adjustment, Phoenix Radial worked for me.

When I first tried Hoosier radials, and went with the widest wheel width they reccomended for their tires. I discovered radial wobble. Since I went to 1.5" to 2" wider wheels I have never seen it again. More air, more stable and the car hooks harder. I have found no down side. Presently I use MT & GY, same results. No more wobble. No rear sway bar, doesn't matter where I set the shocks.

Re: Radial wobble

I have heard form a reliable source the wobble comes from how the tire is built. When Brenda drove Pat Clifford's car earlier this year we put on a set of GDY radials, and the car ran faster at every increment down the track (same weight ). No hint of wobble. Call Brent in Daytona and talk with him.

Re: Radial wobble

I have both GY and MT radials mounted. Neither ever wobble. 31X13.5 GY, and 31.25X12.2R15W MT. Both sets on 15" wheels. Both like 15 to 17 psi. On my car the MTs are .05 to .07 quicker, and over 1/2 MPH faster. Both dead hook, but I think the difference is the 5 lb per tire heavier GY. I bought the GYs because of two guys telling me how much faster ther would be. Guess it depends on the car. My lights are the same with both. Now I have "bracket mode" and "heads-up mode" tires. LOL

Hey Merrill
I had bad wobble the first time I tries radials. So bad I took them off and put bias back on. When I put the radial back on I put the air pressure low like the bias. No wobble. Now I run about 11-11.5 lbs in my tires. The only time I get some wobble is when the car spins a bit and the tires can't catch up. The worst track is Gainsville for some weird reason. I run my rear shocks loose. I have Hoosiers now.

Re: Radial wobble

Tighten the compression on the front shocks and the extension on the rear shocks.

Also heard the phoenix are just as good as the MT's without the wobble, but haven't tried them. I always had my shocks set to those specs and it never was/ is a problem. Santhuff shocks.
