roll bar/ roll cage

I'm considering changing my roll bar from MS to CM to save some weight., who makes the best fitting kit for a 67 Camaro Stock Eliminator?

Re: roll bar/ roll cage

Most kits are a compromise as far as fit, verses ease of installation for the general public. . ...Pre notched kits still need major fitting.
The main hoops are usually ok,but the majority use a halo bar for the cage ,which is ok on some older large cars, but makes keeping the front bars out of the drivers line of site very difficult on newer cars with high windshield angles.
The halo is also usually inboard more ,so it puts the window net much closer to the driver at the top.
S&W's are good kits,I've used a lot of them for customers who want to keep the cost down and a quick turn around ,and want a generic cage.
I usually order them with longer legs on the hoops and fit them to my liking.

very few kits I've used fit very well without some major tweaking....if you have someone near you with the ability to custom bend the tubing you'd be better off in my opionion. A custom bent cage always leaves much more driver room, which is important for most racers.Joe

Re: roll bar/ roll cage

If S&W can build a perfect roll bar for a '64 Plymouth I'm sure that one for a well known combination as an early Camaro would fit easily.

My vote is S&W, had them in three of my cars, very happy with them.

I cast my vote too - for S&W, but then again . . . . I might be biased.
Call 800-523-3353 and get Tom ext 126 or Randy ext 115 they'll take good care of you.

6 point bar or cage? ART custom bent the CM hoop for my 6 point (GM A body). The other pieces were straight tubing which I fitted myself with my trusty slag grinder. The weight went down from about 74 lb to 45.

We put an S&W bar in my 67 Chevelle and it was really slick to work with. Every pre notched joint was bang on and the fit looks better than if it had been OE. We just finished putting a new bar in my 68 Camaro and custom bent everything in house and the time and effort was far greater than the S&W install. Two thumbs up for the S&W stuff and they are really good folk to work with.

we normally bend our own stuff at my shop, but i have put in a few s&w kits, and the fit was pretty good. but as Tom suggested earlier i would ask them to leave the ends a little longer so you get get a perfect fit.

Re: roll bar/ roll cage

Thanks for all the advise, S&W was at the top of my list, I won't do the install myself, but want to make the job as easy as possible.
