"Live" from Charlotte O'Reilly Nationals
We are here! Nothing like being # 8 in line! I think this is probably the earliest we have gotten to an event. Here on Tuesday and the race doesn't start til Friday! We are stacked in Lot P (kinda). There are great signs directing you into the Sportsmen line. This is the first time we have been to Charlotte and it is a huge facility! After you turn at Lot P, keep following the signs that say Hauler stacking. We are sitting on top of a hill with a nice breeze blowing and drinking some Mike's Margaritas! (thanks Chris for taking care of the business, so we could retire and have fun!)
More later! |

Patsy if you get a chance go tour the Hendricks Motorsports facility. They are just a stones throw from the track down a back road...tucked almost in the woods.
I used to work for one of their RV dealerships and have had the "back stage" tour which was amazing. But any tour is well worth the time! |
Re: "Live" from Charlotte O'Reilly Nationals
Bill, we missed coming to Earlville this year, too! If you saw on an earlier post, we went to Piedmont Dragway in Julian, NC last weekend. We were to be there on Monday to tire test for Goodyear, so we went early to run their Combo race, but it got rained out. All of the personnel there, especially Kevin Shipmon was really nice to us and let us stay there until yesterday, when we left to come here to Charlotte. The tire testing went really well, except Larry having to change tires all by himself after every run. Nobody had to rock him to sleep that evening. He also had to change the front seal in the transmission and then continue on with the tire test.
It is a beautiful here in Charlotte today and is supposed to stay that way the rest of the week according to the local weather. There is a little chance of rain late on Sunday. Highs in low 80s and lows in low 60s. Just perfect! There are probably still under 20 rigs here now. We are supposed to start getting in to park at noon today. Well, more later. |
Re: "Live" from Charlotte O'Reilly Nationals
I left my camera at home this trip, so I have been using Larry's new little camera. Hopefully these pictures will turn out ok. Here are a couple that I took at Piedmont:

Oh, I just talked to Wallace and we are going to start parking at noon. And we are parking on the Pro side. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...20on/003-1.jpg This is the round track. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...20on/001-2.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...20on/002-1.jpg Stockers waiting to get in: Vic Guilimo, Jim Roberts, Matt and Lynn Rover |

Re: "Live" from Charlotte O'Reilly Nationals
Looks like good racing weather for the weekend. Based on the latest Stocker entry list, looks like 15 cars in the combo, 10 class trophies in all. Small field. Good luck to all!
