pinion angle
what do you guys set your cars up at. My springs was pulled in a little bit and I am putting them back in the factory location.I have to redo the perches. Just curious to what kind of angle some of you are running.
I do have the calvert bars and springs under my duece, dont know if that matters on the pinion angle or not. |
Re: pinion angle
call calvert ,they will tell you the pinion angle needs to be in relation the engine/trans angle not with ground level ,depending on how low or high you car sits you might end up with a angle that dosent sound right

Re: pinion angle
Pinion angle needs to be set so the rear u joint runs as straight as possible on acceleration ---Trevor

Re: pinion angle
On our 71 Nova we set the pinion down about 4*- 6* which ends up to be 0 under heavy acceleration with spring deflection. Maybe old school but will find out from others.

Re: pinion angle
best possible set up is u joint is zero at pinion and the angle is at the trans, under acceration to avoid any drivelin vibration ,if you car sits high the pinion angles will be optimum but if running stockers you might have the pinion angle going negitive because of ride height but will have the correct drive shaft angle ,,just my 2 cents from my application gmonde

Re: pinion angle
On our mopars the Calvert system does not generate nearly the rear end travel
of the old SS Springs. We run 1 to 2 Degrees on both ends of the driveline. When we set them at 6 Degrees like the SS Springs we had a noticeable vibration according to Jon Jr. The Calvert system (Springs/Bars/Shocks) is some of the best money we have ever spent on our stuff. We run a dozen cars with them including our Super Stock/Super Street cars running on Transbrakes. Calvert always seem to have time to help you no matter how busy he is and is one of the Fairest and most Honest Manufactures we have meet! |
