Another VP fuel question................

On the top of the "accepted" list for NHRA S/SS is VP Sportsman, once called Stock/Super Stock. Anyone ever use it? Pros, cons?? I assume it is the least expensive VP sells, or is it??
Low compression, low rpm, small cubic inch legal motor that runs great on Arco pump 91.

You may not see much difference in performance on your combo using 110 race gas over a good premium pump gas. The 110 would be more consistent, but pricier.

Re: Another VP fuel question................

Thanks for the reply Mike.
Performance is not my concern. I can shoe polish the difference between fuels. I have used the C-10 unleaded with some success but I have a big issue with the cost. FYI, in my car, C-10 is about .01 et for every 90-100 feet of DA change. Pump gas is .01 et for 250-300 feet of DA change and is .05 faster than the C-10 is. Your mileage may vary. I was assuming that "Sportsman" was their least expensive legal fuel and was curious if anyone has used it.

I can't find VP sportsman on their website and it's not on the price sheet either. Anyone know a cost per gallon?

Charlie, I might be wrong, but I think it's the same as C10. Just a name change. Hoping to see you out racing soon.

It's all the way down the bottom called VP Sportsman and it was about $7.50 a gallon back in '09 when I was using it. I switched to C12 at the end of that season but I changed too much on the car to know if the C12 picked me up ET-wise. I have been thinking of switching back to save money, I'm not too concerned with a few hundredths of a second if I can save money and still be consistent. Plus I think running C12 in the stocker 5.0 will be way overkill.

Re: Another VP fuel question................

Was able to speak to someone at VP Corporate today who answered all of my questions. "Sportsman" is no longer an accepted fuel as of May 2012. Only the listed "C" fuels are legal. The lowest octane and lowest priced fuel sold by VP at national events is C12 at $11.75 a gallon off the VP trailers. Really makes happy to pay $4.00 a gallon for pump gas these days.................................

Renegade Pro 110 is on the accepted fuels list and is very reasonably priced. And it has a Motor Octane of 107 so it will work in a lot of different
Applications.

Ck out TracTek fuels from Chevron-Phillips. Used the 110 in a 350 dish motor, worked great and priced right....

Re: Another VP fuel question................

My buddy had his 565 high compression engine on the dyno yesterday and started the session on Trac Tec. A few pulls were made, data gathered, fuel was changed out to VP C-25 and additional runs were made. No HP difference. That Trac Tec must be some good fuel.
