titan oil pump help

i have a bbc that had 75lbs of pressure hot at 7500 rpm with a stock volume pump. because of nhra's stupid diaper rule i ended up changing pans for front steering clearance with the diaper and sending the new pan out to get the diaper made. at the same time i decided to get a titan sportsman pump rather than change pickups on my chevy pump. i had to send it back once due to insufficient pan to pump clearance. i primed the pump and checked the pressure at the time which was fine at 70 lbs. the problem now is with the engine completely warmed up and heat soaked i have 110 lbs of pressure as it revs . the bypass is either sticking or it cant deal with the volume to keep pressure at 75lbs. they were supposed to check it after it was built. the engine did it immediately also so i cant imagine a a piece of debris from the engine sticking it. any experience with these?was racing this weekend. not now huh

Re: titan oil pump help

Those pumps have an adjustable pressure regulator. Its just a matter of adjusting it to get the pressure where you want. They move more oil than a stock pump which is why it goes way up at rpm. Every engine is differant as far as clearances go, so even if they test the pump and set it, that doesn't mean it will be what is right for your engine. I hope this helps.

the regulator came backed completely off so i cant back it up any. ive got it apart and so far i cant find a problem.they say they dead head the pressure when testing and set it to 75 psi. it goes way over 100 right now even hot
