Pure Stock C5

Would a 2004 C5 be a natural B car allowing me to go as low as C/PS? If so I'm thinking it would have to weigh 340x10+170=3570. The index is 12.75. I just ran mine bone stock and it went 13.3 on the OEM tires and I even had our luggage in the trunk. I think with a CAI, converter, tune, and DOT drag radials I can drive to the track and run the number. Just wanted to make sure it would be a C/PS and the weight. It's my daily driver and I don't want to cut it up or make it "faster" than I need to in order to keep street manners.

talk to Jeremy Preston with Horsepower Sales in South Florida 954-984-8040. He has competitively ran a C5 in NHRA stock for years and its a street driven car, the first one i believe was a daily driver even

That 2004 is rated b@ 340 hp on NHRA's site. (not the Z06)

Not sure what the IHRA rating for PS is, but assuming it is the same, then your Vette's natural class is B at a 3060 lbs + 170 driver=3230 race weight.

C/PS class would be 3570 lbs with driver.

Hey Tar Heal...

Sounds like a great combination and you can drive it to the track anywhere.

Saw one racer at Richmond with a C/PS LT1 Camaro that ran 3 tenths under in the Heat.

Do you remember if it was street legal or an all-out racecar? Just curious ... For me to go 3 tenths under I'll have to do more than I planned but again, for now, just trying to run the 12.75 number and drive it to and from. I think this combination is fairly "soft" as with a completely dedicated racecar it should easily go a second under in Pure Stock.

That is what I do with my 95 SS. Helps to have a big huge trunk though.

Intake, Headers, 3600 Converter, 4.10's, DOT's, Suspension reinforcement if necessary, you should be going a 1/2 second under.

Mine has a Warren Engine which helps..and run .85 under in cool weather.

AS for the C/PS Camaro ..he Trailers it because it has Race Wheels and Tires.

My son has a 2002 Camaro Z28 (305 HP/LS1) Automatic. The ONLY mods are180 Stat,Early Hypertech Programmer, SLP Air Cleaner/Box 3.73 gears.

It runs 12.8 @110 at Sea Level in Summertime and is still under GM Extended Fact Warrantee.

It weighs around 3800 as raced ( 200 Lb. Kid/ 250 Lb. Dad)

Your Corvette is Several 100 Lbs. Lighter and has better Exhaust and some other Power Improvements ( I think).

My Stock 94 Vette ran 12.69 @ 111 at Sacramento in 1995 at Div 7Bracket Finals (Runner Up) Hypertech/160 Stat./KN/3.7 Gear.
At that time a 308 Lb. Driver and full tank of gas (Stock Goodyears). It was around 3500 with me in it I would guess and I understand
that the LT 1 is a bit slower than LS 1 Combo ( You GM guys could tell me ).

The gears in both Car made a HUGE Difference (Seven Tenths in Camaro with a 2.72 to 3.73 Ratio Change) but I think the gear
change is more difficult in the newer Vettes. My 2006 Ran 12.40s@ 113 at NHRA World Finals(2010) a couple years ago with a 2.59
gear and stock Goodyears, Gears and Drag Radials would make a Big Difference!!

If you change gears and engine is in decent shape you will be fast enough! E Mail me if you need more Info but Beware of my

GM Knowledge.................I am Mopar Guy and just bought my cars just to have the Extended Warrantees on my Bracket Cars.

HOPE this helps I do not Race Pure Stock (NHRA West Coast Boy).......The '94/'02 still get 22 MPH on road with 373 and OD auto!
