cam belt drive

Let me hear about your thoughts/experience with camshaft belt drive systems. (Specifically for BBC)

Do you like them? If so, which company?

Thank You

Larry, got no experience with a belt drive because I feel for what I do there is no performance or reliability advantage for the $1K it will lighten my wallet. My Rollmaster timing chains have provided decades of reliabilty. Why do you want one or think you need one?

X2.
I know of one of a SS/AS class car that was one of the first users of the Chevy based tall deck Rocket Block.
Due to the increased distance of the cam location, there was no belt drive system in the market. Therefore, he used a Rollmaster timing set and ran it for two seasons with no problems. The engine made 887 HP and when he refreshened the engine, there was not stretch.

We use jesel belt drive on every engine we build and love them. Replace the belt every time you rebuild the engine and you should'nt have any issues. And I am sure it goes without saying but I will anyway, also be sure to replace it if you have an issue like a broken cam or a bent valve.
