Hoosier Radial Tire Swap?

Has, or do any of you ever swap sides after a few runs? I have heard both ways, don't do it and I do it all the time. After all, they are non-directional tires. Anybody REALLY know if it works on Hoosier radials? Jim

Jim. I've been running Hoosier Radial slicks since 2000. 30" x 10.5" on my former Chevelle through the 2008 and 32" x 13.5" since then on my Firebird. Swapped side to side after every race for the 2000 season and haven't since then. My 60 foots vary thousanths from pass to pass whether I swapped or not and tire life was the same.

Jim, like 1320 said, I to have tried it both ways with the hoosiers. I have found no difference in performance or lasting ability. I typically rotate side to side about every 2nd oil change just part of maintenance. Hope this helps some.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

DRAG RACING QUESTIONS

5. Can I swap tires from side to side? (from left to right and right to left)
ANSWER: Hoosier does suggest, depending on the number of runs, swapping tires on a regular basis. The main reason for swapping tires is to help smooth out or even the tread wear. By swapping tires, it causes the tire to be run backwards, thus causing the tire to wear differently, which cleans up the tire tread. Watch for improper wear patterns on the tread, such as rolling or feathering. The tread surface should have a fine grain or velvet look to the surface. (Top)

I know you stated Radials...but for those with bias....
I swap during the season if I see the tread feathering. 243 passes on last year's set and half tread life left. 29x9 bias.

Hi Jim,

I run a different class and a bigger radial. I dont swap. The tire I use does not feather up. As long as the track is good the tires hook good.
