Sixtys gasser class info

My NHRA rule books only go back to the mid 70's. What Gas and MP class would a '65 or '66 Dart with a 273 be in? If anyone has any pictures please post them. Thanks

It would depend entirely on the weight but, for what it's worth, a 2900-lb '66 'Cuda with a 273 fell into E/G in 1977.

Well, it used to be like this, in the early '60s:

A/G 0-9 lbs./cubic inch
B/G 9-11 lbs./cubic inch
C/G 11-13 lbs./cubic inch
D/G 13-14.6 lbs./cubic inch
E/G 14.6-up lbs.cubic inch

About 1964, NHRA added F/G, and already had 4 and 6-cylinder classes (G/G and H/G)

I don't remember, after that. The Modified Production class made their debut in about 1964, but that was a long time ago and I've slept since then...

Bret's information sounds like it reflects changes made after what I have described, but NHRA was changing weight breaks every year, for awhile.
