NHRA answers the seat question

"A seat that incorporates a reinforced head rest is permitted." http://www.nhraracer.com/content/gen...693&zoneid=132 I am building a 65 Biscayne so I am going to install an 86 Vette drivers seat. ---Trevor

...But considering that a Biscayne would have came with a bench seat, can you legally use any bucket seat, even those from a 65 Impala?

I think NHRA means that if your stock seat has a headrest built in, you don't need to fabricate one on your roll bar.

Did you guys click on the link I provided to the NHRA technical web site ? I think buckets were optional in a Biscayne ? Original bench is totally trashed so this is a lower cost safer alternative . I have one good black bucket [original style ] I am installing on the pass. side. ---Trevor

Negatory !
BTW, one stock bench is usually lighter than two buckets (of the same family, of course)

Trevor, I think you'll be pretty unhappy if you show up with an early Biscayne and a later Corvette driver's seat to run Stock, unless the tech guy is either blind or doesn't care.

If you're going to try that, you'd be really wise to get the approval in writing from Glendora. Unless of course you don't mind wasting a weekend and the attending expenses.

There is a recent mile-long thread on stocker seats:

Bottom line, the seats must have come in your year, model car.
