A factory-blown Studebaker,,,
Did anybody ever run one of these,,,,,
1968 Division '7' Points Meet (June 1, 1968) Gordon Williams (1964 Studebaker, C/SA) (304 cubic inch / 335 HP, 'R3' Supercharger engine) versus Jay Hamilton (1958 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe, H/SA) (370/338 HP, Fuel Injected) The #3100 lb. 64' Studebaker Lark fit nicely into the 1968 C/SA class (9.00 to 9.49 Wt/Hp). The #4000 lb. 58' Pontiac was a runner, and dominant car in 1968 H/SA class (11.50 to 11.99 Wt/Hp.) How dominant was this car. 1966 F/SA,,,'1966 Stock Eliminator World Champion' 1967 E/SA,,,'1967 Springnationals Stock Eliminator Champion' What were these cars running at the time. C/SA,,,,12.70's @ 111 MPH H/SA,,,,,13.70's @ 104 MPH The Lil' Studebaker put him away.. http://66.154.44.164/forum/attachmen...7&d=1254437093 |

Re: A factory-blown Studebaker,,,
Moose,
Don't laugh,,, ,,,the 1964 289/289 HP 'R2' Supercharged Super Lark was marketed as the 'first street musclecar'. It could run with the 289/271 HiPo Mustangs, as they both were in the same NHRA class. Now for looks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thats a different story,,,,,,;) |
Re: A factory-blown Studebaker,,,
What I'm told,
Back in the day the #3100 lb. 64' Studebaker Lark, The 1964 Lark 289/289 HP 'R2' Supercharged, Fell into the 10.60 to 11.29 Wt/Hp Class-Bracket The 1964 Lark 304/335 HP 'R3' Supercharged Fell into the 8.70 to 9.59 Wt/Hp Class-Bracket, but the NHRA had other ideas. Only a handful of the Super Lark 'R3' cars were built. Hand-built at the Granatelli's Supershop in Los Angeles, California. Numbers range from 90 to 125 The 'R3' was a $1000 option. And the Super Lark could be ordered with 4.55 Gears. In 1964, the NHRA would not class the 'R3' Super Lark car in Stock Class, as there seemed to be a lack of factory information on an accurate horsepower rating. While the Studebaker reps claimed 335 HP for the 'R3', which would have put the Super Lark in the 1964 A/S or A/SA Stock Class, the NHRA was estimating a higher horsepower rating, which would have put the car into AA/S or AA/SA. |
Re: A factory-blown Studebaker,,,
I couldn't find anything about the engine options in the 64 brochure, but here's some info on the 63 Lark Daytona.
http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/stu...d/bilder/8.jpg They also used the Paxton Super Charger on the Studebaker Hawk and Avanti models. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/stu.../bilder/11.jpg http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/stu.../bilder/16.jpg |
