Making parts fit aftermaket parts
I was at CP pistons booth at the PRI show, they had a piston already certified by NHRA for the 396/375 HP Chevy motor to fit directly with the aluminium head which is an aftermarket part already. The piston fits the chamber better and picks up a point in compression over a steel headed engine piston. My question is when are the original "stock" parts going to be allowed to be used again? I don't have a problem with the manufacturer, it's with NHRA already allowing parts that are aftermarket already be enhanced by allowing other aftermarket parts. In other words, if you had a 396/375 with the aluminium heads, you shouldn't be allowed a different piston other the the standard spec piston for that engine with a steel head.
