Mopar X-block question
The shop I work at, we build a lot of Nascar Late model stock engines. The Dodge engines are R blocks with 59 degree lifter banks and 340 mains. We run around a 4.020 bore and the deck height starts at 9.200 and we cut about .100 off. They are real heavy and very hard to find. I would like to find an old X-block for a new engine were building but first I need to know how short we can safely cut the deck on an X-block. Surely someone would know. Also if anyone knows the whereabouts of one of these blocks, please let me know. Thanks so much.

Re: Mopar X-block question
Standard Deck block are supposed to be 9.56 as I recall. To get to 9.10 is almost a .5 cut which is huge. I am skeptical that you would have a very good engine with that kind of Cut. I have a couple in the shop so I try to get a approximate measurement on the thickness when I get home Tuesday from FallFling Show if needed.
