What's Most Weight You Have Had To Add??
I'm new to stock. I've bought a 1975 Nova Hatchback. Best I can figure from head and intake #s it's a 350. It's a four barrel car . So is it an ISA car? If so I come up with min weight of 3620 287x12.0 plus 170. My car weighs 3220 with me. Does this seem correct? If so were can I put so much weight? Second battery with two 100 lb boxes. Where can or would you put weight if so what kind and how??

Re: What's Most Weight You Have Had To Add??
If it's the 350 cid, 155 factory motor, it's NHRA-rated 287 automatic, 270 stick. 287 x 12 + 170 = 3,614 pounds in I/SA. If it is the 350 cid, 145 factory-rated engine, NHRA-rated 230 (both transmissions), it fits O/SA @ 3,620 pounds.
Being 400 pounds under does seem light, they may not be that farfetched, I guess? |
Re: What's Most Weight You Have Had To Add??
Mark Yaccavone will chime in but he had an Olds body with a Buick (corporate engine) for Stock and I think he used a cherry picker to R&R the weight bar! I think it was around 400#'s.

Re: What's Most Weight You Have Had To Add??
My brother has 75 hatchback fit K/S he had to carry 210lbs in box and car has 6pt.mild steel cage probaly 175-200 lbs. there.
The cc spec on combustion chambers was changed from 76 to 64 so heads had to be angle milled .150. If I remember wt. is 3698 so he usaully ran around 3720 his is stick BTW been setting for 6-7 years. Mike Taylor3601 |

"Yacc" here,
What Jeff said is correct. Those cars are very light ,once you get rid of all the factory emission and exhaust junk, extra seat belts, and other safety devices. Mine didn't have a roll bar, so I ran it in N and O/SA. It did have the subs tied, but no light brakes. In N, I had about 500# in the back. 100 in the bumper, two 200 # pieces of railroad track, plus an empty weight box. For O, all of the above, plus full box and a " heavier model " mini spare. That all the room I had left. Believe it or not, It would still spin the tires once in a while with the 350 Buick. |
