Who will have the first 8 second Stocker?

Ron Durhams pass in Vegas last week:

139 MPH equates to a 9.50 ET. Converted to sea level w/ Vegas factor of .9757 equals 9.27 ET!

Yes, new car & "still smells new"!

Forget the whole "soft" factor and "should be SS only". Bobby DeArmond and others chased the continent for the first 9 second Stocker. Obviously it won't take long to dip into the 8's. It's just a matter of some fine tuning from what I can see.
So who gets to design the "First into the Eights" t-shirt?

Sorry, I'm not impressed. These are accomplishments by cars that were never offered to the general public to drive on public streets. More evidence that Stock has turned into Super Stock, while Super Stock has turned into Competition Eliminator. The sad truth is that NHRA has let it all happen.

I don't know who it will be but for sure it won't be a 396/375 car.I'm the anti Chevy guy but I think I liked it better when the 396 and 427s were ruling the roost.Real cars, real mechanical tweeks.Just my opinion.

Correction Andy Durham

Equates is one thing - reality is another - it ran 9.839 @ 139.65 at Vegas

We will work on the 60ft times 1.405 is not as good as it can be but at least it does not spin (well maybe a little on a couple of 1.425 runs)

We are stock eliminator racers and I am sure we can make it faster over time - when we need to

Right now it is just about perfect for what we are trying to do

Win a shoepolish race

Thanks

:-) peace

If you do the math on the cubic inches allowed in stock, the V-10 can go out to 532 cubic inches in stock form, I know that there are 500 ci cars going into the eights with no problem.

Whichever owner of a supercharged CJ or V10 DP wants to do it. It's pretty clear from the mph some of these cars have run it's easily possible.

An 8-second pass is a hit of 11.25% or around 50 horsepower on the combination (375 added pounds) in AA and 75 horsepower (600 added pounds) if made at A weight. Lets see it. Ha.

Not wanting to argue, just would like to understand the connection between bogus hp factors and whacking the indexes. The indexes are still too soft, how are the two related?
