Quick Fuel 780 SSR carb

The SSR carb has been approved by NHRA as a replacement carb for GM and Ford. Is it approved by IHRA? Any body having any results good or bad with this?

We have one. It runs very good, right out of the box. I don't know if it is IHRA approved, you need to call IHRA or Phil Vickus at QuickFuel.

What is different on the SSR 780 carb from a stock 3310. Are the boosters and metering blocks different from stock and have the passages been drilled along with adjustable air bleeds?

Jimmy Bridges set the record at 9.167 in SS/C with that carb. on his BB Corvette.

Yeah, and when he did it, it was about 95 degrees, around 80% relative humidity, and the density altitude was around 3000 feet.

Not exactly the type of day to make a record run. He should try Atco in the spring or the Dutch in the fall. That motor was sucking some air !

The QF 780 has metering block on the rear, the 3310 has a plate. The QF has 4 corner a/f screws, the 3310 has primary only. The QF has adjustable vacuum to the secondary diaphragm to control opening rate, the 3310 requires a spring change. The QF has replaceable air bleeds were the 3310 bleeds are fixed. The QF has throttle blade angle adjustment on the secondaries that is external and easy to get to. The QF is much lighter & made of aluminum, the 3310 is cast zinc (?).
I still like the classic gold of the 3310 best.
That's basically it. Oh, retail for the 3310 is about $275 and the QF is about $525

Jeff the original 3310 has a metering block in the back and was rated at 780 cfm.

Re: Quick Fuel 780 SSR carb

I have an e-mail from Mike Baker that says the Quick Fuel carbs are approved in IHRA. I was asking for one of my Crate Mtr. customers.
The blocks in the back of 3310's came on the 3310-1 and -2's Rated 780. They then went to some plastic parts and changed the down leg boosters to straight leg and re rated the later 3310's to 750. Those had the plates in the rear. My memory on the change might be a little fuzzy. It might have changed with the 3310-3 to 3310-4. I'm almost positive all the 3310-1's and 2's have rear metering blocks. I guess I could dig out my old Holley books and check it.
