3310 Holley Carbs

A friend of mine has a bunch of Holley carbs and parts. I can run a 780 on my stocker. Is there any list numbers or metering plate numbers that are better or more desired. He has a GM replacement carb also that is a 780. Any recommendation or suggestions are welcome.

A 3310 is a 750.

Engine tech spec gives throttle bore measurements, use that to check the carb. If it matches you can use the carb.

Either buy a Quick Fuel, or call Clark Holroyd, or Jimmy Bridges, tell them what you have, and send them what they tell you they want. You'll be time and money ahead.

On my flow bench an old 3310 flowed 788 CFM, an old 4780 flowed 780. I still have a few old 3310s, I bought about 8 of them from a friend back in the early 70s, Paul.

I thought the 3310 with a "metering plate" was a 750 and a 3310 with a "metering block" with replaceable jets was a 780.

Anyone?

Difference is in the boosters. 780s have drop down boosters, 750s have straight boosters.

Also, the 3310 & 3310-1 have the replaceable secondary jet blocks and are rated at 780, the later (& cheaper versions) 3310-2,3,4 etc use the secondary metering plate and 750 rating. I believe that the later 750 versions also use the Holley manual choke setup, while the 3310 &-1`s that I have owned, always had an automatic choke. Also some of the later carbs used cheap plastic accelerator pump arms, secondary diagpram housings, and manual choke units.

And if your spec allows a 3310 then you can replace the rear boosters to the drop down for a +30 CFM gain and you can also replace the metering plate with a metering block for easier tuning.
