SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
For disscusion purpose If a different place to race was avaliable in the future that paid very well what would you REALLY consider to be important rules to race by in your program and style of racing? ET's, electronics, weight, body styles, chassis types. Forget what you race under now in NHRA and IHRA and start with a clean sheet of paper. Would the chance to run for better pay outs sway you into by passing an NHRA event to run with another scantioning body or race venue or is the "WALLY" the most important thing to you. Is a "Points Championship" such as you have now spread out over a season more important than the chance to race for a much larger purse?
Id like to see some SERIOUS answers instead of just complaints about the big MPH vs the slower MPH cars or the T-Stop issues. Thanks. Terry Bell |
Re: SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
i pass up nhra races to go to high dollar bracket races, yea the wally is great, but its not everything! for divisionl events, you spend 3 to 4 days there make what 1 and maybe 2 runs a day,i rather spend 300 bucks for a bracket race, where you get alot of runs! with 3 seperate days of racing, also golf cart races, and other things..the doorslammer open at trails was fun also...i would like to see some bracket races where they pair dragsters on one side of the ladder and cars on the other then have a draw in the semis to either pit dragster vs dragster or car vs dragster semi final matches....
now i loved the way trails ran unleashed,i love the format and they gave us a bonus time trial since no one dirtied up the track, and fridays test and tune was only 25 bucks...my dad refuses to run anything other than nhra races cause he knows no different, but i rather bracket race...but thats my 2 cents! |

Personally I like to run for a series championship.....

Re: SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
Personally, if I had the choice between a Unleashed race and a divisional race in super gas, I would go to the Unleashed race. I am at a disadvantage at the NHRA super gas class, even though that is typically what I race all the time. The Unleashed levels the competition.

Re: SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
This is a very interesting question and has had me thinking for a while. We race in a couple of series, a local SC association and the NHRA divisionals (and/or nationals...).
The payouts in the association dwarf the others, even though it's fewer racers. The association just turns more back to the racers. But that's not why we race there. The people are amazing, and the competition is tough, some really top-notch SC racers. And the fact that they hold double-headers means we get more hits in two days that we do in a four day divisional. The racing for the association championship is tight, and a lot of fun. But we do race for the divisional (and/or national) points. There's something about all those cars, some folks you rarely get to race, and some really really good racers that makes it worth it. Yes, I hate four days with only hit or two a day. Yes, I hate the often random organization. And yes, the douche bags who take it all so dang seriously, and always seem to get bent out of shape, rain on the fun of it. But chasing those points, racing people who are really good, seems to make us come back. At one point this year, we were 8th in the division, with the top five in sight, that was fun. And oh, yeah, there's that trophy... In the last year, it's actually been good to have TD and TS for us. It's given a place for all those people who just have to go faster and faster. Those guys for whom a 6 or a 2 at the front of the ET or MPH is all that matters. Some good racers, but they aren't racing in SC just to go fast. That's probably a good thing. For suggestions, I guess I'd like to be on the stop for a shorter time. So I'd like to bump the index. And it would make everyone's life better if they were round numbers: 8.00, 9.00, etc. so that even an idiot could figure it out. To do that, you have to have a place for the people who can't go 8.00, so I'd like to see the 9.00 class allow dragsters. Maybe even add an 11.00 class as the entry point. That's my suggestions, period. Don't need a bigger payout to make us race (although money is a nice thing). Just more of the same. Chris |
Re: SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
Attention anyone who wins a big dollar race, im willing to trade one of my wallys in exchange for the purse you won! lol no takers huh ? I also have a friend with many wallys who will also take that deal. I do feel fortunate to have some but my offer still stands. lol again

Re: SUGGESTIONS (serious ones)
I think that if they, NHRA &IHRA, did not make local racers get a number to run a divisional or national they might get a few more entries in all the .90 classes.
