Re: Ford Roller & crate engines
The only rule book with crate motor cars is IHRA, have I missed something ?

Re: Ford Roller & crate engines
You are missing a whole lot. Did you get your 2011 NHRA rule book yet?
No one is having it shoved down there throat. If you don't like it race somewhere else or start your own drag racing league. NHRA makes the rules we just play there end of story. |
Re: Ford Roller & crate engines
Does everyone understand what has happened here?
An auto manufacturer has been allowed to advertise new racecars for sale in a drag racing trade paper. Buyers around the country will be putting in orders for these racecars. An agreement has been made to allow a place to race these racecars. Anyone who purchases one of these racecars is expecting to get to race their car in a regular class as currently shown. If a change putting these cars into special classes was to be made now that advertisement has been allowed, major lawsuits would run rampant. What company do you think has the deepest pockets, the advertiser or the place that allowed the advertisement? It is a done deal. Allowing the advertisement has guaranteed that new purpose built racecars will continue to race in regular Stock and S/S classes. |
Re: Ford Roller & crate engines
I haven't received the new ND as yet....anything Ford advertised that isn't in line with what the rule book has said for some time (as noted below)?
"OEM may apply for inclusion of any special production runs into the Official NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide. Special run must include a minimum of 50 units of an already accepted body style, need not be showroom available. Applications evaluated on an individual basis. Acceptance will not imply precedent." |
Re: Ford Roller & crate engines
Not to complain, business is business. I don't think whoever is furnishing NHRA trucks and support vehicles will have a problem getting one accepted.
