66 Nova 4-gc ????????

What is supposed to be the best # 4gc to use on a 66 283 stocker .I have about 10 of these carbs complete. just going through the group of them to see what i need to keep and what #'s to look for in the future at swap meets. I am running the 459 intake now....... One other ? , is a 520 head better to fix for sock than the 896. Mine has 896 on it now.

Danny,
The 520 T is the head you want for the 283.

Danny - email Dean Oliver deano@classicnet.net on the carb. His carbs have been great on our 283 and many others.

Thanks guys .I finally got the car to run 12.20 and i am tickled to death. Now tinkering with gear change and maybe get me a Deano for Christmas. Started out 3 years ago and was running 13.0's . 3 years and a very small budget has got me 8 tenths so far. Some may laugh at this and say it is still slow . Just doing when $$ and time allows ,problem is i got more time than $$$$..I am racing IHRA only right now and my goal is at least a second under. Then i may dabble in a little NHRA . It has been ups and downs these 3 years ,but i " now" do not regret it. Having fun again,.Thanks again for your help.

Danny your 520 heads are still out to Teddie's . If you want them let me know....he said he could do them in a week. That being said if I have them done he's not going to half *** them.... I only let him do work like that for Dad! ;)

Great job on dropping that et! Deano carb will improve 60' as well as down track. He has some new stuff for the autos, even if your Deano carb is over 8 months old, you may be behind! Good Luck and if I can help, let me know....

Nice to know Wade, when I had Deano do my carb 4 years ago I picked up 0.15. I think I'll have to send it back out to get updated.

Wade, I think you've been taking that little 4 GC off when no one is looking and putting on one of those 1000cfm throttle bodies that come on the new cars.

How do you tell the difference between the 520 and the 520 T head and also what did they come on.? Does the T stand for Truck? Thank you in advance ,Kenney Kelley
