Question for Cylinder Head gurus
If you have a small block stock eliminator engine and you have a choice between two heads, one being about 5cc's larger in the intake runner than the other, but both are the same size in the pushrod pinch area, would there be much difference in the two heads as far as horsepower ?

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
Are you talking about 894 X and 915 J 2.02?

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
Yes sir, thats exactly what I'm speaking of. Man, youre reading me like a book ! LOL

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
more intake runner volume, more power... period
|
Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
That thinking might be true for brand X heads but the chryslers like velocity not so much as volume. port speed is crucial. ask GTX john. Bigger cc.s does not always mean better. I am currently working with heads that are WAY under spec and they are making alot of good power. Right John?

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
If your talking Super Stock, velocity yes. Stock, no - stock intake -stock runner- more volume more power... been there

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
I don't have a current National Dragster, are the port volumes published anywhere else? What are the volumes for the 894 and the 915? I assume the 894 has the larger volume?

Re: Question for Cylinder Head gurus
It looks like they changed the port volumes on the 894 head. They used to be smaller from what I remember. My 587 heads have better flow on the exhaust side than the 915 heads due to the bump in the floor.
