70-81 F-bodies Moroso front springs?

I've read numerous things regarding this and still am not sure what direction to take. I've had a couple people recommend to go with the lightest spring available. For the 70-81 F-body, the only listing I have is the (per Jegs) 710-47180 at 1840-1910 lbs/212 lbs/in. The other two listings for this body style are heavier springs.

Just asking, are the springs available for the Camaro/Firebird what needs to be used? Or, can I use a spring for a different application, ie; 79 Malibu, earlier model Camaro/Nova? Would appreciate any insight anyone is willing to offer me on this one. Anybody running these cars have a specific recommendation they'd be willing to share with me?

The car is a 1979 Firebird T/A, being built to run IHRA crate motor stock. These cars are nose heavy. I'm not going to rebuild the front end immediately. I'm going to do the front sub by adding aluminum body bushings. I also have CE 3 way adjustable shocks for the front end. Also going to swap out the front calipers for a set of aluminum Wilwood replacements for a little weight savings. Not an optimum set up but a stopgap measure to attempt to get this car on track, perhaps early next year.

47180 is a big block spring. It might be the lightest spring but I bet its super tall. Im thinking that a 78 Malibu spring will work diameter wise, something like PN 47130. A 78 and up malibu uses a 4in inside diameter spring.

I used moroso#47175 springs cut 3/4 off on the pass. side 1/2 on drivers on my 71 camaro big block stocker. Have 5 in. travel, leave them settle a few days, its always a crapshoot with springs but it shoud be close.Hope this helps . John

just did this last night, 47175 spring 1 coil cut off 3500lb stocker with bowtie block sits
perfect, just be careful we cut 1/2 coil off car sat 2in high next 1/2 coil off lowered it a lot.
i would start with 3/4 coil off and see where you are.
