Super Comp Dragster Weight?
Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate as to what a SC dragster weighs? I'm helping convert a SC car to run at Bonneville as a gas lakester. I have no access to any scales. The car is a 2002 235 inch Yancer sprung rear car (pivot points behind the driver, 2 shocks) Iron block BBC, alum heads and a PG. Dual optima, fuel cell, and a weight box up front.

Re: Super Comp Dragster Weight?
My similar hard tail car weighs 1870 with a 260# driver after a pass.
The thing about bonneville is the salt is slippery and they don't want any aero drag so they add ballast to improve down force to keep from spinning the tires @ 200+ So you might want to consider ways to add weight. I'm not sure, but I think they allow water as ballast. Good luck, the one time I was at Bonneville it had a nice laid back atmosphere. |
Re: Super Comp Dragster Weight?
Our 97 Yancer 225" hardtail weighs 1805 with a small driver in it. So I'd think you're right about at it with a guesstimate of ~1900 lbs.

Re: Super Comp Dragster Weight?
Thanks for the information guys. I'm having a tough time coming to terms that I will have to add HUNDREDS of pounds of ballast to the rear and probably the front too. I can accomplish the same results with wings but that adds alot of drag. It's just going to be alot different from all of my past experience

Re: Super Comp Dragster Weight?
I have small nose Yancer with the single shock design, and when I used to run an iron-headed BBC, it weighed about 1720 lb with the front weight box NOT installed.
