Drum to disc weight savings
I'm thinking about replacing my front drum brakes to Willwood Disc's. I have the lightweight cast Chevy II drums and hubs in the front. Do you think I'll save any weight with changing over? Has anybody out there that has done this noticed a weight reduction? If so how much? Thanks....

Re: Drum to disc weight savings
Todd.....I had stock discs on the front of my late model Firebird. I bought a Wilwood kit produced by a company in Pa......At the time Wilwood did not make a direct fit race style kit and this company made up some special brackets to mount up essentially a set of rear hat type rotors on the stock hubs.
I weighed everything I took off the car and everything I installed..... It was very close to a 40 lb weight savings..... Stopped fine and I had no problem staging it and footbrake racing at 3000+ |

On my 70 Buick GS I saved 36# over a set of stock aluminum front drums. I used the HD Wilwoods. Saved another 6# with the new style Wilwood master cylinder.

It's a double play. You save weight and stop better. How can you lose?
