trunk firewall question (stupid maybe?)
ok, nhra wants a f'wall between the fuel cell and the passenger compartment and it's supposed to be such and such thickness.
is that a min. thickness or max? |
Re: trunk firewall question (stupid maybe?)
Minimum. At least, that's what I was told. It's still 0.024" steel, 0.032" aluminum, last I looked, in the '09 rulebook.

Re: trunk firewall question (stupid maybe?)
so, if mines a bit thicker gauge, it shouldn't be an issue?

Re: trunk firewall question (stupid maybe?)
No, I don't think it should be an issue. I think the only time you'd get into any trouble is if you were to use the sheet metal firewall as disguised ballast. In other words, if you were to use a piece of 1/4" steel plate for a firewall as disguised ballast, it might bite you. But if you were to use 0.060" steel or aluminum, I doubt anyone would have a problem. If you are concerned, contact tech, and get it in writing, if you feel you need to.
