30x9 radial on a 12" rim?

Any problems putting a 30x9 radial on a 12" rim?

The tires have 5 passes on them so I would like to use them if possible.

I know the "rule of thumb" is + or - 1 inch of the tread width but I see some guys really stretching thier tires.

On the present chassis they are on a 10" rim but the offset for the new chassis needs to be different and have a set of 12" that will fit.

They would be screwed and glued as needed.

Will it work?

When I bought my Hoosier's the factory guys said to use an 8 to 10 inch wheel, no screws or glue. They did tell me to use rough sandpaper to roughen the areas around the bead to help seal.

I would call the tire makers before putting them on 12" rims.

Even if you did put the 9" slicks on a 12" rim, I`d bet getting the beads to seat against the rim flanges should be good for a few hours of "entertainment", assuming a tubeless installation.

Low Rider's do it all the time. And yea, they share freeway space and speeds with the rest of society all the time with these dangerous tires!

The radial sidewall is not designed to be "bowed" out like that. They will fit, but, the stiff sidewall will breakdown and quit hooking up right away. As far as being dangerous, I dont know.

Ok, so anyone need a set of 9x30 radials with 5 runs on them? ;)

Yes, I need some. What type, what compound, and what roll out? Part number would answer all that I guess... Where located, and how much?
thanks,
Ken
