Liberty, G-force or Jerico?

Which transmission would you recomend for a small block Mopar and why? They are all in the same price range. I can use either 4-speed or 5-speed. Most likely a 5-speed.
Thank you,
Larry

Call them all. Of equal importance is the clutch maker, so you are going to need to call all them too. Keep in mind upgradablibilty to clutchless. And if its for the drag pak, you have two other stick options to ponder......old school A833 reworked by liberty, and having the tranny your car came with reworked by Gforce....Not sure if it will work for drag racing use or not though....worth a call.

So many great options, it is easier to do the 904 path, but then you are looking at backorder action with A&A, etc.

Good luck, I will likely join you in the stick arena later down the road.

Re: Liberty, G-force or Jerico?

I have Jerico DR4`s in both my cars, a 5.0 Mustang Stocker, and a 428FE Fairmont bracket car, and I have been really happy with them. The trans in the Fairmont has been in for 10 years, running 10.0`s @132, best 60 foot of 1.29, and a broken 3rd gear last year was the first repair required in all that time ($300.00 to repair.)
I don`t know where you seen the prices for a 4 speed and 5 speed being the same cost however, A 5 speed Jerico is almost 3 times the price of a DR4. In my Mustang, I could legally use either a 4 or 5 speed trans, but finances dictated a 4 speed. It would be interesting to see how much (if any) quicker the extra gear would produce.
I don`t know if they still have the special at G Force, but a couple of local racers recently purchased G Force 4 speeds (looks like a T-10 on steroids), complete with shifters, for only $2500. These are rebuilt, used transmissions, so gear ratio selection may be limited, but you would have to call to find out what is available. The nice thing about these Jerico ,G Force and Liberty transmisions is they hold their value really well. I bought both my Jericos used, and I could likely sell them for close to what I paid for them. Try THAT with a used automatic!

I also ran the Jerico. I have my first Jerico that I bought in 87 Thousands of passes never broke a thing even with the old clutch technology I ran. As far as clutches go there is No One better than Rob Youngblood at Advanced 208-880-6214. He can set you up with everything you need and it will be right the first time.

Why is his clutch better than the McLeod Softlock? Thank you for your help.

There are many reasons his clutch is better. Materials, different levers, customer service. He has a clutch dyno he checks setups with etc....etc...etc
It is like the difference between a Model T and a new Mustang

I have run soft locs. The bigest things on the AC for me are the levers working much better so it is easier to tune and the heat shields are thicker and more durable. You can call Rob from the track and he will pick up the phone too.

Rod

You don't have a good used clutch laying around. We are looking for one.
