Front end setup
I know there's a way to make the front wheels on a GM a-arm front end stay square through it's range of motion...I'm tired of mine pulling in and fighting themselves going down the track...All the stockers I see wheelsup and their front wheels are straight up and down...I assume it's in the control arm shafts, so who makes these?

Re: Front end setup
Joey,
It sure is fun doing those wheel stands. A little messaging here and there to control arm length, bump steer, some graphing and tie rod lengths should do the trick. I know there is some literature out there on fixing exactly what you are going trough. I don't beleive there is some magic part available to fix it. I have some info on LSA front ends I can get to you. Mine is not to bad so I really never messed with it just Toe in through travel. Or Maybe it is and I just don't know about it. Mike |
Re: Front end setup
A 1/2" taller upper ball joint will just about cure all of what you are describing as well as give you a little more front end travel if you need it. That's what I did to my Chevelle. I have mono ball joints in mine like would be used in circle track cars, but we have also used the Howe Precision Ball joints in a .5" longer length in a buddies car and I liked them better. Check out scandc.com. They can build which ever joint you want instead of you having to buy the stock length joint as well as a longer stud and switch it out yourself.
And I know there are stockers out there that use this very method for curing what you are talking about as well as gaining front end travel. |
Re: Front end setup
Travel is NOT what I need, I got it limited from 5.5" to just under 3" now and it still wants to go for the bumper...Just want to keep my front wheels more square.

Re: Front end setup
You can limit the extra travel with your limiters or taller bump stops. The taller ball joints will be the easiest method to fixing the geometry issues.
