Question about 750 Holley for crate motor

I have a 750 holley to use on an IHRA crate motor, but it is missing the rear metering block. Just wondering if it is legal to use aftermarket metering blocks, such as the ones from AED. Thanks.

Jeremy,

I "think" tech inspection would not like a billet replacement metering block. Modified metering block would be fine, just need to be of an original Holley material.

Also, you need the choke plate in place. The choke linkage is not required, just the plate and shaft, can be held open with a screw or such.

The "spirit" of the carb rule is, no external mods. Internal jetting, air, fuel mods are ok. No mods to the venture or throttle plates.

BLP, (Bo Laws Products) can supply anything you need. They are completely up-to-speed with class competition carbs.

Re: Question about 750 Holley for crate motor

Thanks for the replies. I looked on Summit and they have cast aluminum replacement metering blocks from AED and I looked at the replacement blocks from BLP also. Is it safe for me to assume that these would be acceptable for crate motor stock? Are there other options I could look into? Again, I don't have the secondary block which is the reason I'm looking to get replacements. The carb is a Holley 4779-3 if that helps. Thanks again.

While IHRA does allow the aluminum Quick Fuel and Holley Ultra 750 carbs on small blocks with choke tower, plate, etc., they may not allow swapping parts from different brands. You may have to call Mike Baker just to be sure.

I'll have to do some looking, but I may have a spare metering block or two. Just not sure of the application till I find them.
