TH350 with Torqueflight filter kit

2 Attachment(s)
I purchased a kit from TCI that allows the installation of a torqueflight filter in a TH350. I just finished installing it and it just does not look right to me. The TH350 has 2 ports that go into the filter, however in this kit one of those ports (see rectangular port in picture) is left wide open. Will this even work? Also I have included a photo of the filter installed as well, just in case someone has installed this before I wanted to make sure it looked correct since TCI does not offer any instructions on how to install this kit.
Thanks,
Chad

Silly question, why the need for that huge filter? From the pic on the right if the filter is bolted down it doesn't look as though the pan will go on. Were you having issues while using the normal TH350 filter? Joe

Joe,

I kind of noticed this as well. Just a dumb question, looking at it. Will it bolt up in a different manner? Or worse, are you sure they sent you the correct filter? Just asking because, like Joe says, "it looks like it will interfere with bolting the pan back on".

The angle of the picture is funny, I have plenty of room to bolt the pan on. It was time to replace the filter so I thought the logic behind running a larger filter made sense, it just mounts up to the valve body different from what I thought it would.
Thanks,
Chad

Chad, call TCI and ask them to explain this installation, it will save you headaches. I run the stock AC Delco filter that's why I asked. I was unaware of any issues anyone was having as far as the filter size. Hope they can steer you in the right direction on this as it just doesn't look right as it appears in the pic. Joe

You can buy filter to fit 350TH ,made with if I remember correctly it's called,Dacron material, like the TF/chrysler filters have, may have to go to trans shop to find one.It will bolt on with no changes.

Use the dacron filter not the screen it filters smaller particles.

If you do end up using the dacron(looks like cotton gauze) filter check it regularly they plug up with crud real easy- otherwise with the mesh filter it will definately last longer and not starve the pump for oil either-Comp 387
