Need someone to look in NHRA rulebook
Can someone look in the 2010 NHRA rulebook and see what class my T-Bird would fit in Stock ?
The car/engine combo has a factor of 17.05 but I do not know what class that would be. Thanks Alan |
Re: Need someone to look in NHRA rulebook
17.05 is near the top of Q/SA, and it can run P/SA and R/SA.

Re: Need someone to look in NHRA rulebook
P is 16.00-16.99; Q is 17.00-17.99; R is 18.00-18.99
AA is 7.5, and goes in 1/2 pound breaks down to N (14.50-14.99), then 1 pound breaks from O (15) to U (20); V is 22 or more; W is 24 or more. |

No problem at all. It's pretty simple: weight break (either 16, 17 or 18) x NHRA-rated HP + 170 = minimum weight in each class. What combo are you running? |

I bought that car in '99 and started to turn into a stocker but gave up after a few years. It has a BBF 460 in it now but is still legal if I put a 2.3Turbo in it. It currently weighs 3400 lbs with stock (heavy) factory wheels and a 700 lb 460 up front. It would appear that getting it down to 3230 lbs (Q/S) or 3420 lbs (R/S) should not be a problem. :) I know guys run 5 speeds with the 2.3T but I have never seen an auto combo. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...tLaunch1Cr.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...tLaunch2CR.jpg |
Re: Need someone to look in NHRA rulebook
With the 460, some time and money, it could make a good GT/GA car, there was one in Division 1 a few years ago raced by Dale Shannon, and later Bob Hammel. Car is still around today, driven by Keith Wariner.
Is the 140 motor rated 190, as the 1988 Fords are? Minimum weights would be 3,210 for P/SA; 3,400 for Q/SA and 3,590 for R/SA. |
