Race fuel with O2 or wide band sensors

For tuning do you just take out the wide band sensor after tuning so the leaded fuel dont kill it. What about O2 sensor with leaded fuel how long before they are killed. Does any body run unleaded race fuels like VP C10? Have heard they dont pass fuel check very well anybody have any knowlegde with unleaded race fuels?

Have no experience with unleaded, however leaded fuel will eventually skew you O2 sensor. Taking it out after your tuning is done would be wise, basically unless you're running a closed loop setup the O2 is just along for the ride. Joe

Anybody have any experiance using a wide band O2 sensor in the primary tube as opposed to the collector ? .......My new Racepak data recorder recomends installing the sensor within 12" of the exhaust port. ......I would like to monitor the A/F ratio on all runs ,but it looks as if it could be headed for a shorter life span in this location. .............Tom

I have run the same O2 sensor for an extended period of time without removing it. (years) I have virtually no change in the A/F ratio using VP C12.

Anyone know where the best place to find a wideband air/fuel ration gauge with an O2 sensor. Anybody got an extra one laying around they want to get rid of?

The NGK PowerDex AFX meter is a good deal. While it does not record and play back, it is fast, accurate, and reliable. It has a large bright LED display, and it can easily be hooked to a data logger. Also, Daytona Sensor has some very nice stuff. I have no hands on experience with the Daytona Sensor stuff, but I have seen it and examined it, as well as talked to happy Daytona Sensor customers.

I agree with Alan, we had a chance to use the NGK O2 recently on the dyno and it was very responsive and easy to read. I have ordered one for my car, it should get here soon.
