Clutch fork-part II
 

I picked up my Corvette clutch fork(for my '79 Camaro).I noticed that a/the corresponding clutch fork push rod must be of a different design than the "usual" one.Does any one know a part number for a push rod to go with the Corvette Fork(GM#3887177)?

Not sure of the part #, but I use that fork. The linkage I bought was a Mr. Gasket piece. I think it said it was for a 55 Chevy.

Jim is correct about the MG piece. The Corvette part will be too long. If you want to be really trick, fabricate one using L & R 3/8" Heim joints and tubing. You will have to cut out the slot on the end of the fork, but the result will be an easy to adust, very rigid, very positive linkage.

Thankyou Jim and Dwight for the info.I will pick that piece up soon.Do you think that this piece will work into the existing linkage I'm using now(typical GM stuff)?

Not sure about that fork but weld a small gusset in the back by the curved area stiffens it up so NO FLEX whatsoever --also when you cut the slot for the heim joint DO NOTuse a clevis pin/cotter pin to attach the clutch rod to the fork use a small bolt with a ny-lock nut will not vibrate off that way---do not know how often you change engines but a good trick is to drill a 1 1/2 inch hole in the inner fender so you can get a socket wrench at the bolt that holds the clutch cross shaft in that groved tab---much easier than standing on your head reaching down thru the steering shaft/headers etc!!
