New Gold Card rules somewhat clarified
 

Just saw this on the div 4 website.It clears up SOME of the confusion.New 2010 grading guidelines-----SO E.T. gold card holders wanting to move up to class racing are OUT!-----But pros wanting to buy a new class car and be able to race it are IN!-----I am dissapointed in this but not surprised. In a way I guess its fair to require a E.T. racer to pay some dues and get his feet wet at a divisional or two (like all you guys have done) before getting in at a natl. I just dont think its fair for the pro,s to get this "reserved" treatment.Now I'm not talking about Jeggie here. He has long paid his dues in the sportsman ranks,and is a huge supporter of sportsman racers. What do Y"all think


1. A driver with a valid NHRA Gold or Silver, card will be guaranteed entry to any National Event (card must have been earned in either Full Throttle series or Lucas Oil series – cards earned in ET or Jr are not entitled to a provisional entry).



2. The defending event champion will be guaranteed entry to the event he/she won. For example, last years Super Gas winner at the Finals would be guaranteed entry into this year's Finals. Entry is not guaranteed to any other event or category.



3. A former national champion (Pro or Sportsman) will be guaranteed entry to any National Event.



4. A Professional driver earning Top 20 status in the current or previous season will be guaranteed a Sportsman entry to any National Event.





5. Owner credits may be awarded in cases involving a driver change. The owner must have grade points from the previous year for the category entering. Owner grade points cannot be a combination of multiple vehicles, or combined with driver grade points. Division Director approval required.



6. A Sportsman driver within the Top 20 in National points, and still in contention for a possible Top 10 year end position, will be guaranteed entry to any of the final four National Events of the racing season (Dallas, Reading, Las Vegas 2, and Pomona). Driver must be in contention at the start of the event entering.



7. A Sportsman driver within the Top 10 in National points will be guaranteed entry to any of the final four National Events of the racing season. Driver must be in contention at the start of the event entering

My guesses would be the ET card did not occur at NHRA/Lucas Division events so it is not oranges to oranges series use? And Rule 4 was made so guys like Jeg could run Stock or Super Stock Eliminator without enough grade points where many would be needed for entry? (Mr. Line as a former champ would not need this.)

Correct! The gold card was won at D4 bracket finals
As we understood the card was good for any NHRA event period! Brackets to Natls.
Not true, at lease not anymore.
I would expect to see a lot of pros in new stkrs and s/stkrs at Indy

Maybe you guys will finally get some T.V. time

Jeggie is also a former world champ Super/Gas early 90s.

I take this to mean that an ET or Jr driver is not guaranteed an entry, but if they have enough grade points and enter before the quota is reached they can use the gold card.

This was not the case earlier in the year according to Mark Yacavone. If ET gold cards are no longer honored at national events I think it should be printed somewhere.

Not sure how this will stir up but here in div7, the winner of our r.o.c. received a gold card. He also went on to win the big show in pomona, so now he has 2 gold cards. NHRA told him neither one was good enough for an entry to a national event. In the past he had this same gold card and used it everywhere. Now because he won it in a BRACKET class its no good.

That's kinda like having a coupon for a deluxe meal, and
then be told it's only good for a junior deal,
wonder what the IHRA is doing with their gold card holders this
season?
