Crankcase evac. check valve
 

Can't you purchase these check valves at any parts store, for about half the price of a "name brand"? If so. Can anyone help with a part#? Are they all the same? TIA

I used some "air pump check valves" from a mid 80's Ford Ranger, several years ago. Sorry, do not remember exact year or numbers... Were much cheaper, and exactly same. Was working on one for a friend, saw them, and I actually cut an old one up to see inside, etc. Worked great on my headers.

Maybe someone else will jump in here with numbers... If not, go to your favorite Autozone, O'Riley etc and get them to look around for you.

I think GM used them in the late '70's early '80's air pump deal..... ??????

It's an A.I.R. check valve, found on most any vehicle with an A.I.R. pump.

OK...... Let me ask this... How often do these check valves need replacing?
Is there a way to check (pardon the pun) if they are working properly?

Blow through the hose side, and you should get air to pass. Blow through the threaded side and air should not pass. Depending on how often you race, and what the local environment is like, they usually last a year or two.

Standard Motor Products p/n AV7 will work for your needs. It fits some GM's, Fords and Chrysler products in the '70's and '80's.
