Which Weather Station?
I am looking to get a trailer based weather station powered by my laptop but I do NOT want the paging software.
I don't like handhelds because unless you take them at the same spot and out of the sun, they aren't accurate. Does anyone use the Altronics PAPC-02? Is the oxygen sensor option important? Computech doesn't seem to have a wind sensor and it is always crashing in my buddies' trailer. Altalab is $1200 without paging, why so expensive? Must be good. |
Re: Which Weather Station?
Never mind, I didn't see that you wanted a trailer based system.

Re: Which Weather Station?

Re: Which Weather Station?
Call Don Higgins, Crew Chief Pro software guy.....he is a member here, usually lurks on the .90 section, he won't steer you wrong, and I believe has a trailer style system at a great price right now, at least that is what I 've seen on his website.
Good luck... Greg |
Re: Which Weather Station?
We used Altronic in the INDY Car racing for 5 years with no problems and YES the % of oxygen is really important as it doesn't take much of change to see a performance change when it drops or goes up.

Re: Which Weather Station?
I use one of those simple weather info units,a Skymaster SM-28 by Speedtech. It cost me $150.It doesn't predict but if you log all your runs,I write the info on every time ticket, all you need to do is reference back to the info from a previous run at the same track and it puts you real close for a dial in.Did it last year.No time trial, retrieved info and ran dead on.
I have a new Kestral, gives more info, but I'm struggling to get it down right. When I do I think it will be as good if not better than the Skymaster. The Kestral holds the info where you have to write the #s down on paper with the Skymaster. Two good low buck options. |
Re: Which Weather Station?
I also have the kestrel...good for the money If I had a labtop I'd buy th crewchief software also for predictions..

Re: Which Weather Station?
I like the Alta-Lab folks and the the prediction program they sell written by Jay Costales. I suggest talking with them and discussing options.

Re: Which Weather Station?
Let me rephrase cause I made it sound confusing. I want a trailer based system powered by my laptop. I don't want a handheld as I have a Performaire handheld right now I am looking to sell. Thanks!
