3rd generation Camaro
Was wondering what was involved in changing out the 700R4 for a Turbo 350.
Is the trans a different length? Will the driveshaft need to be lengthened/shortened? Is trans mount in same location? Can the original crossmember be used and in the same location? How about the tunnel, any problems there? |
Re: 3rd generation Camaro
A TH 350 is shorter than a 700 R4, and the mount is closer to the front. No, the original crossmember cannot remain in the same location. No problems with the tunnel. If you can find a car that was built with a 200 Metric, the crossmember, mount, driveshaft, and torque arm mount are where you need them. You will have a very hard time finding a TH 350 extension housing with the mounting holes and mounting bosses for the torque arm brackets.

Re: 3rd generation Camaro
B&M makes a reasonably priced and simply bracket for the torque arm. Part No. 30299. Use the stock driveshaft for 1982 Camaro with TH200.
