Chevy Small Block

Ok, had some major damage today. I may need a new block. Which do you prefer? Competition products has a cast block, bored, cleared for stroker, line honed, etc for 800$. Dart little M? Or Dart Al or i was looking at a World Lite Al? Any suggestions/trials/failures?? Thanks in advance.

I run a 4.155 bore with a 3.5 stroke and switched to a Dart Little M block after years of using the stock 400 blocks. My machinst tried to talk me into going with the Dart block years before switching but I resisted because of the expense. But when you consider the expense of preparing a stock block it does make sense to go with a block that is made of better material and engineering. The leakdowns have been more consistant and time between freshens has also lengthened.

Dart any way you go, SHP, Little M, Iron Eagle or aluminum. Material, casting, and machine quality and consistency are by far the best.

Re: Chevy Small Block

When you compare a machined stocker to a dart, prepped to the same level for a stroker what is the price difference? Does the Dart come ready to wash and assemble?

Re: Chevy Small Block

They will all need a little clearance work for the rods if you use a 4" crank and 6" rods.
Other than that most are ready to assemble.
I bought a dart and it was great for me.
I will never use a stock block again for a race engine.
My 2 Cents
