86 Camaro Stocker question on rear end
I have a 7.5 rear and want to put a 8.5 i have out of a 4x4 that is approx. 2 1/4" longer i will have to shorten it ( i work in a machine shop so fabing is no problem) . I would like to use the factory disc brake system on it now and disc brake rotors off of maybe the front of a 5 bolt pickup???? Anyway anything that can be used or modified to get by cheap for now is what i want. I would like to get going next season i haven't raced in over 30 years and can't wait any longer. thanks

Re: 86 Camaro Stocker question on rear end
If you have to modify it anyway just get a 12 bolt lots stronger lots more parts available pre 1971 fullsize wagon good place to start looking.
Thanx Trevor |
Re: 86 Camaro Stocker question on rear end
12 bolts are out of the question in my area. Everybody is holding on to them impossible to find here.......

Or just get a Strange or Moser bolt in.

Re: 86 Camaro Stocker question on rear end
The 8.5 that you have is just fine. Narrow it up and use Moser ends and put the stuff on for the torque arm. There is plenty of gears, axles, brakes out there for 10 bolt 8.5s and it will be more than strong enough for your combinations. Plus it is lighter than the 12bolt Bruce
