Cal Trac Settings - 69 Camaro

Just curious - do most of you run the top or the bottom hole? Also, what is a good baseline for adjustment? I have the split leaf mono, rancho 9ways in the rear. It is an automatic trans.

The way I set mine up is with the car race ready, gas, oil etc and with the driver weight in car, adjust both bars at the same time until the bolt just touches the springs. Then put a 1/2 turn in both bars. I use this on a footbrake automatic car. If it pulls slightly one way or the other then put a slight more or less turn in one bar. But, I have not had to do that. I use the top hole it hits the tire harder than the bottom hole for me. But, every car is different you have to see for yourself. Lastly start with the shocks in the middle setting and work your way stiffer, for good tracks and looser for tracks that are going away. This is just a base line to get started.

Yep, what Robert said. Been doing some testing on mine. Clockwise on the shock for a slick track and counter clockwise for tracks with great hook. Start in the middle.I use the top hole in a 3500lb car. Jim

I put mine on the bottom hole and it seemed to 60ft better but again all cars are different. Mine came "preset" on the upper hole. If you look at all the GM cars on the website they are all on the bottom hole and they are all on the bumper.:) 1/4 turn preload and setting #1 on the shocks...hooks everywhere even on marginal track.

If you put in the bottom hole it's going to want to pull the wheels not as high but carry them farther out. Your changing your instant center. Allot is going to depend on front to rear weight percentage / horsepower to wheels, etc. It's one of those things your just going to have to experiment with. There is no magic turn that fits all camaro's, however its probably going to be 1/4-1/2 turn. Hope that helps.
