Stanton is Pathetic!
I just looked at the car counts for Stanton. What a JOKE! I would think NHRA would get the hint. First they can't race Alcohol there because it is too short, now the car counts are really low. There was only 40-some super gas/comp cars. 15-17 top sportsman/dragster, etc... It looked like a div 5 IHRA race. I am not sure where this race should be held, but I would say not Stanton.
Opinions? |
I like Stanton, regretably couldn't attend because I did not renew my membership with NHRA this year, too expensive to do 2 races(Stanton and Norwalk). The oildown fine was the last straw for me.
The Ledfords have always been very hospitable to me. I've run many passes over 180mph in my dragsters there, always got it stopped with no chute, no problems. Its a lil bumpy some years in a solid car, just favor the centerline in the shutdown. Never a problem in my super stock car. |
Track was awesome.... Better 60Ft than Rt 66 nationals and Div 3 race @
Rt 66. I was helping Rick Sojka on his T/S car and we went 1.041 60Ft. new black top from 330 on to finish... Shut down is still a roller coaster. Brad did a great job with track up there. I do not like the metal gaurd rails and the shut down area.... but other than that not a bad weekend The Doughboy[:-smilearound-:] |

Track was good. Weather was better. Same pay out regardless of car count.
Boo Boo |
I agree with BOO BOO and Lee. I thought the track was great. It was a good time all and all.

The Best Part Of The Weekend Was The Top Oil Down Class Weren't There. No Down Time And Done By 4:00 Pm. Track And Weather Were Great. It's Nice To Have Options And Pick And Choose Races That Are Closer To Home. So If You Weren't There Don't Cry And Say How Pathetic It Was. Bring On The Comments!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeff D.

I like Mid Mich but it got jammed by a full NHRA schedule.
The fifty grander is a few weeks away . Great race |
The guys I spoke to shared the same thought as Webb, the Stanton race suffered due to schedule overload. Norwalk,Joliet,Joliet,Stanton,Norwalk,StLouis,Indy all in a row is pretty tough to swallow. The Ledfords put a lot of investment resurfacing and grinding the entire track just for us, and seeing 27 SST,44 SG and 44 SC was sad. If the participation was higher maybe they would fix the top end as well, but there was a TD there dialed 6.60 and going rounds so he was fine with it. What do you guys think, maybe make this a mid-May race before Norwalk, or a later Sept race after Indy? Maybe NHRA should look into adding a division 8 out west, tighten up D5 and create a new championship race, since many new midwest tracks have joined NHRA? Have fun at Norwalk this weekend, it will be cool to see it on ESPN! Should be wild!
