I have read there are 4 iterations of this suspension, can anyone PM me the differences in the iterations?

Re: Alf weibe Suspension
Mike, why not ask the guy that made the statement a few years ago, the same guy that's been running this suspension for the past 9 years, the same guy that has made far more passes with it than anyone else and the same guy/the only guy according to Alf that has gone a best of 1.28 60 foot @ 3880lbs. with it, powered by his stout pump gas oval port headed 468...
http://s117.photobucket.com/albums/o...current=10.flv and who last year went 1.36 60 foot with the back tires with his new engine on a restrictor plate.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbKYio6OvKM same guy that has tried to help you for years! |
Re: Alf weibe Suspension
Ed....you are the person I know would know the differences between the 4 versions and I am glad you responded because you were the person I wanted to ask. I have an old email address of yours and it didn't work, so I was hoping that you would be around one of these forums. So can you email / PM describing the different versions?

Re: Alf weibe Suspension
Mike, version 1/the original and version 2 are the same except with the addition of gussets and a sleeve incorporated after I broke/bent the passenger side arm.
Version 3 is not legal for stock eliminator and the one I had been running for the past ~5 years Version 4 is the latest, developed a few years ago and the one that Alf is selling to stock eliminator racers now as a result of the issue with Kevin Borgstrom's car last year in Division 5. http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/o...own6-15-08.jpg |
Re: Alf weibe Suspension
I heard that the "x-pattern" looking lower control arm, was switched to more of a "V" (the round bar meeting up with the square tubing at the front lower mounting point? Is this true?
I believe the one I have is "Version 3" since it has all the gussets, andalso has all the adjustments available on the upper (relocating bar) and the lower bar to adjust square / pinion angle / wheelbase. |
Re: Alf weibe Suspension
If your lower arms are an X you have version 2.
Version 3 and 4 are V but the forward attachment point is not the same. http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/o...scan0001-1.jpg |

Re: Alf weibe Suspension
I'm very impressed with the pictures of the red Chevelle,we have four or so of them ourselves, and that's just the red ones, but it would be nice to see pictures of the various Alf Wiebe suspension kits and see them identified as to their legality. We have a few of these kits on our cars, and it offends my sensibilities that a first rate well engineered and well sorted out unit like these are could be in need of being removed after the time and expense of installing them has been completed.Let's see some photos of the various refinements of Alf's design.
