9,90 '65 Mustang cpe

We are planning a S/G build; 2600# '66 mustang 2dr cpe, Alston full tube chassis kit, Fbrgls front end and doors,
Looking for the best engine/trans/rear end ratio combo for this class. Need some advice, first time to put
together one of these.

Not real sure of the ford motor, but you should have 800 hp. A C4 with a probrake and 457 rear gear and also the converter should flash @ 6000 rpm Good Luck !

If you want to run a Ford motor, make it a big-un. 557 BBF's are easily available on Racing Junk in Short block or long blocks. Good heads, nad decent roller cam should get the job done. For a trans stay away from any FORD trans, save the aggrivation and go right to a glide with the JW Ultra Bell. Run a 14x32 tire, should be able to run a 4:11 maybe a 4:30 gear.

I am finishing a 90 Mustang but I am using a 28x10.5 tire and a 3.73 gear on my 557/glide combo. Motor makes 800+ hp. I am looking to get this thing to go at least 9.3's

Dennis do you have one that works with the aftermarket K frames?

Did that easy in my '69 mustang fastback with a FE motor, power glide and 4.56 gear.
(Ran 9.50's off the stop) Used a 427 block, stock tunnel port heads and intake and a flat tappet cam with .653 lift. (It could red light with the power glide without some delay. Struggled with the C-6)
Cheaper to use a 385 engine but like the others said stick with the glide.
