yes, even some 4th gen cars were. however the power window isn't much heavier and is way more convenient

FED, I have seen a "few," but very few manual windows. Like posted above, I can not see the weight difference being worth any effort to change over.

On the other hand, if a fellow had the doors off or torn down to remove the crash bar, and had the manual parts, well, might be a consideration. Plus, you could remove two or three pounds of wiring.

I know for my car power windows are lighter than manual and when belted in I couldn't reach the window cranks - power windows are sooo nice to roll up when you pull into water and down after making the turn when its mid summer.

It's doubtful there is much of a weight savings in manual windows. Have been told power windows may actually be lighter. The motor is very small. The crash bar does not weigh much either. But every little bit can count.

The doors are long and that piece of glass is a tank. That is where the weight is. See if replacement glass is thinner and therefore lighter.

The crash bars are 17# each side on 82-92 f body if you remove the whole thing. As for power verses manual, I have not weighed the parts but would guess they are close to the same. Replacement glass (thinner) is an option if funds are unlimited.

'93/'02 crash bars don't weigh much at all. I was told about eight lbs each, but when I got mine out it was more like eight lbs total. Bolts and all. Just stamped a piece of channel stamped out of sheet metal, and not all that thick.
