Actually, theat's not totally true. You have to have a model that is the same type (Carter AFB and derivatives) and the same measurements (1.437 x 1.562 throttles, 1.062 x 1.250 venturis). It does not have to be the exact model number. There were lots of AFBs built during that time period with those dimensions, but I do not know any modern replacement. As always, be sure to ask your divisional director about your choice before spending a bunch of money on it.

Mopar 273 if I remember the number, I am trying to remember its size (cfm) that would help him find a replacement.

Sorry I was not that clear. There are 9 carbs that have the appropriate measurments, but they are all originals. I tried to get a replacement approved with no success. Your appoved Carter numbers are as follows.
3853, 3854,4119, 4120, 4122, 4294, 4295, 4304, 4305. Good luck because they are usually in poor shape. The carb works fine for 273 cubic inches.

There are some other numbers from the 1960-62 years that are the same size, but I doubt if you could find them in any better condition than the later years when that size carb was used on the 273s.

Classic cars and parts in Fountain Inn SC. I have been to their yard and they have tons of old carbs and other original parts in boxes along with some pretty decent rollers and part cars. Hope this helps. They also have some new parts from the 60's and 70's still in the boxes!
