C-12
Just a few quick questions. I bought a five gallon drum of C-12 last week. The place I buy it from used to pump it out of 55 gallon drums into a regular plastic jug. Will it affect the fuel one way or the other to leave it in the metal drum, or dump it into the plastic jug? I'm meaning if it will check any different at fuel check, if it will "keep" better in one or the other. Also, it was $65.81 for the five gallon drum. The last time I bought fuel, in the fall of 2006 it was $8.62 a gallon when I bought it the way I mentioned earlier. Is $13 a gallon the normal, going price or am I paying too much? Thanks.

Re: C-12
Mike, Keep it in the metal can as long as you can! C-12 seems not to like the plastic jugs or fuel calls. When I was running C-12 last year it went bad quickly and they recommended you to pull it out of your tank and store it in metal containers between races. I got tired of almost being tossed several times because of it and went to C-16. I use C-11 now in the Volare and it seems to be much more stable than the C-12. I just paid $60 for 5gal ($12 per Gal.) at the SGMP points race. Hope this helps. Jim

Re: C-12
I thought the 8.50 I was paying was expensive.

Re: C-12
I am sick of paying $12.00 a gallon and I have only bought 8 gallons!
What about the Rocket 111? Work about the same as VP? Where can I get it? Does it cost less? What about Sunoco 110 or 112 in a LT-1 stocker? Does fuel really make a difference with the lower compression. Man, I use Rocket 114 in my other car, 632" Chevy and it is only $8.00 per gallon. Can I get 10-15 gal of Rocket 111 from someone at Norwalk LODRS event in a couple weeks? Thanks for any help on beating down those outrageous VP prices. WOW! Jok |
Re: C-12
I have used C-12 for years. The last I bought would not pass fuel check and VP would not replace it. They told me I could use it for bracket racing. I switched to Sunoco 110. It was $2.50 a gallon cheaper and it runs the same.

Re: C-12
When you buy 5 gallons VP that comes in metal can you are also paying for the can which is about $15.00 of price.VP price comes down alot per gallon when you buy 55gallon drum.

Re: C-12
We used C-12 for years and never had any issues with passing fuel check. Been using C-11 now for several years and haven't had any problems. We actually start the year with what is still in the cell, and left over in the jugs. Haven't noticed any issues either way, other than the price.
