Race Pumps mechanical fuel pump

Racers,

What about these piston type fuel pumps? Anybody tried one? Or, anybody using any type of engine mounted pump?

Re: Race Pumps mechanical fuel pump

I like the Racepump theory and packaging, but I just run a Holley Street/Strip pump, (no regulator 110 GPH?) and it is plenty.
Same as any Carter/Edelbrock/Holley
If you feel you need more, the upgrade 130 GPH, or a CV Products Speedway type pump will get r dun.
I do run a roller tip pump pushrod, just 'cause it's really cool.

I just never felt that using a huge fuel pump to connect to a spring and ball sitting on a .135" orifice made any sense.
A by-pass style regulator setup after the carb inlets might make sense.

I will NEVER, EVER be caught with an electric fuel pump on anything I own, other than the daily driver fuel injections.

I have seen races lost and oil pans crushed from a pump failure, or failure of the driver to turn it on.

Larry,
We've been selling and using the Race Pumps or for a SBC the Professional Products version for several years with great success. Would much rather use this than the the larger bulkier diaphragm style mechanical fuel pumps. Easy to service and rebuild . JMT.
